In 2021, China's total import and export value of goods trade reached 39.1 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 21.4%. Li Kuiwen, spokesperson for the General Administration of Customs and Director of the Department of Statistics and Analysis, stated at a press conference held by the State Council Information Office today that compared to 2019, China's foreign trade imports and exports, exports, and imports have increased by 23.9%, 26.1%, and 21.2%, respectively. Both imports and exports with major trading partners have achieved stable growth, and imports and exports to countries along the "the Belt and Road" have grown faster. In 2021, China's top five trading partners were ASEAN, the European Union, the United States, Japan, and South Korea, with imports and exports of 5.67 trillion yuan, 5.35 trillion yuan, 4.88 trillion yuan, 2.4 trillion yuan, and 2.34 trillion yuan, respectively, an increase of 19.7%, 19.1%, 20.2%, 9.4%, and 18.4%. Over the same period, China's import and export to countries along the "the Belt and Road" increased by 23.6%, 2.2 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate.
The trade mode has been further optimized, with the proportion of general trade imports and exports exceeding 60%. In 2021, China's general trade import and export reached 24.08 trillion yuan, an increase of 24.7%, accounting for 61.6%, an increase of 1.6 percentage points; Among them, exports reached 13.24 trillion yuan, an increase of 24.4%; Imports reached 10.84 trillion yuan, an increase of 25%. The vitality of foreign trade operators has been effectively stimulated, and private enterprises have become more active in import and export. In 2021, China had 567000 import and export enterprises with actual performance, an increase of 36000. Among them, the import and export of private enterprises reached 19 trillion yuan, an increase of 26.7%, accounting for 48.6%, an increase of 2 percentage points. During the same period, the import and export of foreign-invested enterprises reached 14.03 trillion yuan, an increase of 12.7%; The import and export of state-owned enterprises reached 5.94 trillion yuan, an increase of 27.7%.
The export and import of mechanical and electrical products have maintained a good growth trend. In 2021, China's export of mechanical and electrical products reached 12.83 trillion yuan, an increase of 20.4%, accounting for 59% of the total export value. Among them, automatic data processing equipment and its components, mobile phones, and automobiles increased by 12.9%, 9.3%, and 104.6%, respectively. During the same period, imported electromechanical products reached 7.37 trillion yuan, an increase of 12.2%, accounting for 42.4% of the total import value, with integrated circuit imports increasing by 15.4%.
